Dog friendly resorts on Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard featuring Neely’s Nest luxury dog beds.

Planning a family trip to Nantucket or Martha’s Vineyard? Now you can bring the entire family-including your beloved four-legged friends! Neely’s Nest is thrilled to announce that our luxury dog beds will be available for furry family members at select hotels on the islands.

Choose the pet-friendly Nantucket Hotel and Resort or The Winnetu Oceanside Resort in Edgartown (Martha’s Vineyard), and your dog (under 100 pounds) can luxuriate beside you in one of our super comfy dog beds! He will love his own cozy-as-home space for well-earned post-beach snoozes and evening chill time with his family. It sure beats the kennel! Be sure to look for our specially monogrammed bedding and resident dogs Quinn and Easton, who love to greet guests and make new friends.

Summer will be here before we know it! Now more than ever, you’re probably dreaming of leaving your home (!) and heading to a magnificent New England destination. Picture it…you’ve packed your bags, stopped the mail, booked your hotel—but this time you can open your car door and let Beau hop in with you or book air travel via pet-friendly Cape Air . The Steamship Authority or Hyline Cruises offer pet access as well! Bye-bye overpriced kennels and feelings of guilt! Hello luxury, fun and joyous dog walks/runs on the beach!

Here in New England, we look ahead to long blissful days of sunshine and swimming, eating lobster and chowder, biking, reading good books, and spending time with family. How much more fun will you have with your dog on the trip? Who can resist laughing as they chase seagulls on the shore, romp or play with balls in the surf, and nap on the sand? Our pets are integral parts of our families and bring unlimited joy into our lives! Dogs are now welcome at more places than ever, and during the summer, the perfect enhancement to a family vacation.

Decide where to play and relax! On Nantucket, most beaches (without a lifeguard stand) welcome dogs and the island has plenty of walking/bike paths (www.nantucketdogwalk.com) with pet-friendly spots for snacks and refreshments. If your pooch is a small, teacup breed, rent a bike with a Nantucket style basket on the front and you and your pup are ready to explore! Check out Cisco Brewers where you will find delicious drinks, food trucks and music. Bike over to Something Natural where the outdoor seating is plentiful, the food delicious and freshly baked dog biscuits from their bakery are available for purchase! Bartlett Farm and Sconset Market are two great places to pick up sandwiches before heading out to the beach. The Juice Bar is an island favorite with lines out the door for amazing homemade ice cream -dogs aren’t allowed inside, but they make time fly while you’re waiting your turn! If you’re into shopping, head to Straight Wharf where Vineyard Vines allows dogs to shop with their owners and Cold Noses sells a wide variety of items your dog will love! There are also seasonal events on island - check out April’s Daffy Dog Parade, Yappy Hour during the Nantucket Wine Festival in May and Un-Leashed in July which all benefit Nantucket Island Safe Harbor for Animals.

On Martha’s Vineyard, there are conservation properties, dog parks, and beaches for exercising your pet. Many restaurants with outside seating will allow dogs. Check out Off Shore Ale Company where dogs are welcome in their outdoor beer garden (first come first serve or call ahead and reserve a spot).  The Black Dog Tavern in Vineyard Haven is another great stop. You can’t bring your dog inside, but you can buy a yummy dog treat that will delight! Good Dog Goods in Oak Bluffs offers a play space for your pooch if you’re in the mood for some shopping. Mother’s Day weekend in May brings the annual Martha’s Vineyard Dog Parade in Edgartown, coordinated by the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard.
